Tantric sex

Tantric sex. Definition, origin and tips. Surely you have heard the term ‘tantric sex’. You may think it is the same as kamasutra, but in reality they are two different concepts.

Kamasutra is a world famous book where you can learn new sexual positions.

Tantric sex, also known as tantric massage or ‘sexual yoga’, is based on tantra, a traditional Indian philosophy thought to have been written by Buddha, although other theories claim it was written by later great masters.

There are different variants and it has been practised since its origins in many Asian countries, although nowadays it is widespread in Europe and America.

And although in the West it is associated with sexual practice, Tantra is a spiritual experience that goes much further. It helps people to become aware of their surroundings and of what is happening with their own inner energy.

It is based on existentiality and the present moment. Where sex is a tool to connect with your own and your partner’s energy.

With Tantra you freely develop your senses and the way you connect with others. It is an emotional connection, a fusion with ourselves and the person we love. It intensifies the sexual experience because mind and body come together, to experience new sensations and emotions.

In Hinduism there are two tantras: the right hand path and the left hand path. On the left hand path are the techniques of meditation through sexuality, where the feminine and masculine energies come together.

Tantric sex. Tips and exercises

  • The present. The present is the best way to connect with ourselves and with others, without ballast or prejudice. Without being influenced by the past or the future. As in psychology, tantra teaches to focus on living and feeling the present moment in order to achieve well-being.

By focusing on the present, you put aside preconceived ideas, grudges, doubts and fears. You erase imaginations and memories and focus on reality, on the looks, the touch, the hair, the smell and the sensations of caresses and massages, as if they were two new and unknown people. To help you achieve this blank state, you use tantric breathing. Just as in psychology, anxiety and stress are managed with breathing techniques.

And how do we achieve this? Before the sexual act, you have to stand in front of your partner, naked, breathing together and trying to leave your mind blank, with your eyes closed and concentrating on breathing in and out, for at least five minutes. Once relaxation has been achieved, the second step is to breathe in and out in sync.

  • Eye contact. Just a glance can increase the connection, even more than touch. It can be difficult at first, but once you are relaxed and have mastered eye contact, the rest will flow by itself.
  • The control of energies (or chakras) with which to favour the energetic exchange. This can be achieved with a mutual massage all over the body.
  • Exploration of the valley. Tantra is also known for the cult of the feminine and sensitivity. It focuses a lot on the pleasure of the woman, who is the one who should set the tempo in sexual practice.
  • Discover. In this step we are awakening and discovering even the signs of the female orgasm, which must occur first.
  • Rhythms. Human beings have a great capacity for adaptation. Human beings have a great capacity for adaptation, which allows us to modify the rhythms and intensity, both in the foreplay and during intercourse, to synchronise the sensations and make sexual encounters much more pleasurable for both partners.
  • Mastering orgasm. Many people come to Tantra interested in learning to control orgasm, when ejaculation occurs, the explosion of energy puts an end to the encounter. But the control of ejaculation leads to a much more prolonged climax, is felt throughout the body and does not cause physical orgasm, allowing the act to be extended and the erogenous zones can continue to be stimulated.

Tips

To practice tantra, it is necessary to remove from your mind the distractions that prevent you from concentrating on the present moment. You can help yourself by blindfolding, caressing, kissing and massaging.

Remember that the goal of tantra is the energetic and spiritual connection, forget traditions, biology and physical goals, the orgasm should be sensory and spiritual. There are no pressures, just enjoy and connect, feel good.

Conclusion

Tantra will help you to improve trust and connection with your partner, as well as relieve stress and anxiety.
